Train Chart Preparation Time & Process

What Is a Train Chart?

A train chart is an official document prepared by Indian Railways that shows the final list of all passengers, their seat/berth numbers, coaches, and all reservation details.

When Is Chart Prepared?

The train chart is typically prepared 4 hours before the scheduled departure time of the train.

Example Timeline

  • Train Departure: 6:00 PM
  • Chart Preparation: 2:00 PM (4 hours before)

After Chart Preparation

  • Waitlist passengers get confirmed berths
  • RAC passengers get confirmed or waitlist status
  • Seat/berth numbers become fixed
  • Coach allocation is finalized

How to Check Your Chart Status

  1. Go to irctc.co.in
  2. Click "Check PNR Status"
  3. Enter your PNR number
  4. View current booking and chart status
