How to Check Seat Availability

  1. Go to IRCTC website (irctc.co.in)
  2. Enter source and destination stations
  3. Select journey date
  4. Choose passenger class (optional)
  5. Click "Search"
  6. View all available trains with seat status

Understanding Seat Status

  • Available: Seats ready to book immediately
  • Waitlist (WL): Seats depend on cancellations
  • RAC: Side-upper berth reserved
  • Not in Reservation: Class not available for this train

Tips for Finding Seats

  • Search early in the morning
  • Check multiple dates if flexible
  • Try different train classes
  • Use Tatkal if no regular seats available
  • Try return route (reverse journey)
